So, what do we make of the whole digital copy thing? Well, it's nice to have the option to copy a movie to your laptop and we're glad Sony is taking this sort of thing seriously.
But, like everything the movie industry does, it feels like the company resents it, and considers it a massive favour to us filthy consumers. Take, for example, the wording that comes on the bonus DVD: "As a special gift with your recent purchase of Hancock , your DVD comes with a specially formatted digital version of the full-length movie".
Although we like the option provided by the digital copy, we wonder why Sony uses DRM. Seriously, in this day and age, anyone can download a DVD rip of any movie. Given that, why not just chuck this digital copy on the disc unprotected? This would mean Mac and Linux users could enjoy a portable copy. It's not like people are going to pirate this relatively low quality copy instead of the DVD rips. As Blu-ray movies go, the Hancock disc has plenty to offer.
Of course getting them to work is a different matter. Last edited: Mar 2, Yes, I have copied music, pictures and short mp4 video to the PSP with no problems. These were copied using windows by highlighting the item, and copying to drive 'K'.
The Hancock digital copy has it's own software which starts when you put the disc in the PC. It's this that doesn't seem to like the 'K' drive for some reason. ThuGLy Well-known Member. I finally got to the bottom of this I read somewhere that the card has to be 'Magicgate' compatible. My card has this printed on the front so thought nothing of it. It was only when I pressed 'information' in the card menu that it came up 'unknown' I inserted my 1g original card and under 'information' it comes up 'supported'.
I tried to download it with this card and hey presto it worked first time Since then I have bought another 8g card from a reputable source and that also works. So, I suppose it's my own fault for thinking I was getting a bargain by buying an 8g card from a well known internet auction site for about a third of the price of a 'proper' one. Whether it's a fake or just faulty I don't know but it certainly looks the same next to my new one.
Just wanted to share that and hope no-one else gets a 'bargain' card that doesn't work properly. You must log in or register to reply here. Similar threads A. It may not display this or other websites correctly.
