However, I lack the knowledge to umderstand what Norman did to "clean out all 'droppings' etc and examine the regsitry for cleanliness. Can someone tell me what to do? I have Win 7 64 bit Pro.
Here is the sequence of things I did. All worked fine after I set preferences in Win 7 so Photoshop was my preferred program to open Tif, psd etc. Later, due to slow performance, I uninstalled CS5.
I'm frustrated. Jim Krysan. What happened to me was I ran the photoshop cleanup tool in the hopes it would help a problem with opening help. What I did then was I uninstalled CS6. Then installed CS6. All was fine then. Thanks Norman for the prompt reply and the link to the cleaner tool. You have aimed me in the right direction. Now I just have to make sure I can successfully reinstall CS6 after uninstalling and cleaning up.
I chose to download CS6 -rather than have them send me a disk. That seems to be a problem now because I am unable to find the so-called installer file s mentioned in the "Electronic purchase installation instructions". I am trying to work my way through the system to get an answer to that problem. Up to this point, I havent had any other issues with my current install of CS6 so unistalling, cleaning, and reinstalling seeamed like a waste of time to fix one bitty thing. What I did was copy the folder for my installed version of Photoshop CS6 and then renamed it to what the error said it was looking for, in my case CS5 photoshop.
